Word of the Week: Shimmy

ree

Some days aren’t meant for powering through. They’re meant for celebrating the fact that you’re still here—moving, showing up, shaking things off one movement at a time.

Shimmy (v.) – A spirited little shake that says, “I’m here and I still sparkle." It's a micro-movement combined with energy and a small, subtle boost.

Why It’s Our Word of the Week:

We’re not overthinking this week. We’re not fixing anything. We’re not proving anything.

We’re just shimmying our way through the moment—with courage, softness, and a healthy dose of sass.

Shimmy is about remembering that even the smallest shifts count. It’s forward motion dressed up in bright colors.

Shimmy Self-Talk:

  • “I deserve to feel light, even if just for today.”

  • “I can be both grounded and playful.”

  • “This moment is mine and I’ll make it shine.”

Tiny Shimmy Celebrations:

  • Put on earrings that make you feel extra.

  • Add something fun (sparkly? nostalgic? totally unnecessary?) to your day—just because.

  • Text a friend a ridiculous meme.

  • Dance in your kitchen, even if it’s just your shoulders.

  • Honor something you’ve done lately with a “heck yes, me.”

Shimmy doesn’t shout. It sparkles in the small moments and reminds you: you don’t need a reason to celebrate your resilience.

You just need to pause, breathe, and give yourself a little joyful shake.
