Halloween is one of our favorite times of the year, and MDW is thrilled to partner with My Recess Therapy and Rising Lights Project for their annual Sensory & Allergy Friendly Inclusive Trunk-or-Treat event!
📅 When: Saturday, October 25th
🕚 Time: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
📍 Where: Elburn Metra Train Station, Anderson Road, Elburn, IL
This free family-friendly event will feature trunk-or-treating with safe, inclusive goodies, a teal pumpkin hunt, best costume contest, raffles, and more.
Our Trunk: The Friendly Forest
Our trunk theme this year is a Friendly Forest. Picture paper trees, colorful leaves, woodland creatures, and fairy lights to create a cozy, not-too-spooky space for all kids to enjoy.
Here’s what you can look forward to at the MDW trunk:
Touch & Feel Table: Explore safe, sensory-friendly items like moss, pinecones, and soft fabric leaves.
Hands-On Craft: Make your own tiny fairy house in a see-through jar, with moss, and add a little fairy trinket to live inside.
Sticker Station: Choose your favorite woodland animal sticker.
Take-Home “Forest Friends” Fidget: A small squishy animal or stretchy vine to enjoy long after the event.
Why We’re There
At MDW, we believe every child and every family deserves to feel welcome, included, and celebrated. We love our neurodivergent community members and are passionate about creating spaces where kids of all abilities can have fun without fear of overwhelm, exclusion, or judgment.
Our mission is to lift up individuals of all backgrounds, voices, and abilities.
Bring your kiddos and come play in the Friendly Forest with us... we can’t wait to see you there!
