MDW October Magazine is LIVE

The October Issue Is Here!

ree

There’s something undeniably special about this month’s issue of The Modern Domestic Woman. Maybe it’s the crisp air rolling through the Fox Valley, or maybe it’s that this particular magazine marks two incredible milestones in our story.

For the first time ever, the MDW Magazine is available in print.

What began as a small digital publication shared among friends and believers of this mission has blossomed into a full-color, collectible magazine filled with stories, reflections, and resources designed to support the whole woman.

And for those of you who subscribed to the print edition, keep an eye on your doorstep today! Your copy is on its way, wrapped with love and a little surprise gift tucked inside, just for our print subscribers.

What’s Inside This Month’s Issue

This issue is packed with stories and resources that remind us how beautiful community can be when women show up for one another. Inside, you’ll find:

💬 Profiles & Features - including our cover story on Brooke Backsen of My Recess Therapy, where play and progress go hand-in-hand.

🌿 Lifestyle & Home - cozy inspiration from local makers like Bloom & Bread and Unwind Gracefully, plus a look at how small rituals (like tea time) can become grounding moments of self-care.

🧠 Mental Health - insights from experts like Dr. Teresa Poprawski of Relief Mental Health on innovative depression treatments, and a free downloadable guide for women building big dreams while protecting their mental well-being.

💪 Advocacy - an inside look at Renew, where refugee women stitch stories of strength and community in Glen Ellyn.

And, perhaps our biggest news yet, this issue officially celebrates the launch of MDW Cares, our new nonprofit arm focused on mental health education, advocacy, and connection.

A Love Letter to Our Community

This issue is more than paper and ink. It’s the physical embodiment of more than a decade of stories, late nights, laughter, tears, and belief that when women gather. Whether online, in person, or through the pages of a magazine, something powerful happens.

Thank you for being part of this journey. For reading, sharing, showing up, and believing in the heart of what we do.

Here’s to new beginnings, deeper connections, and fall mornings that remind us to slow down and savor it all.

With love,

Elizabeth Rago
