Parenting When You Have a Chronic Illness with Bonnie McDaniel



Parents and caregivers who battle chronic illnesses face daily limitations that prevent them from fully engaging with their children.


From fibromyalgia and Lyme disease to bipolar disorder and depression, raising children with unexpected flare-ups, daily pain, fatigue, and endless doctor’s appointments can bring on massive anxiety and guilt.


I am very happy to host Bonnie McDaniel, licensed professional counselor (LCPC) and owner of Evolve Family Therapy in Geneva, Illinois, for our February Saturday Expert Series.


In this 1-hour session, Bonnie will discuss:

About Bonnie McDaniel:

"Chronic illness is something I'm really passionate about because both of my parents raised me with chronic illness.
My mom has Type 1 Diabetes and my dad had MS, so it's a topic that is near and dear to my heart."

Bonnie McDaniel is a licensed professional counselor and owner of Evolve Family Therapy in Geneva, Illinois.


As a therapist, Bonnie is focused on helping individuals with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, ADHD, chronic illness, postpartum issues, parenting struggles, and trauma.


A former early childhood and special education teacher, Bonnie has 20+ years of experience working with children, and an extensive background in child development, developmental delays, and learning problems. This background allows Bonnie to bring a unique and concentrated perspective and intervention to clients.


Trained in a relational/psychodynamic approach, Bonnie incorporates many other strategies such as cognitive-behavior therapy, a deep understanding of attachment research, and neuropsychology into treatment.
